Description

We have an opportunity to join our growing Finance team as a Management Accountant in our head office in Swindon. You’ll play a key role in the finance team, responsible for completion of all month end reporting; managing month end close, ensuring accuracy of the ledgers and creating and producing management accounting reports to assist with business decisions.

We can offer hybrid working, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

The successful candidate will have a strong accounting skillset and experience in a similar role. They will need to be comfortable with imperfect data sets in some areas and able to adapt ways of working to develop the management accounting function. Therefore, ambition, drive and strong problem-solving skills will be essential. A friendly and confident communicator is required in order to develop close working relationships across finance and the operational business.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage day to day month end close along with the Group Reporting Manager. Including calculation of accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments and journal review;
  • Prepare and present the monthly Month accounts pack including financial statements, KPI dashboard, variance analysis and comprehensive commentary of financial performance;
  • Reconciliation of inventory, sales, and cost of sales;
  • Manage and reconcile stock movements, ensuring accurate recording of inventory, monitoring stock levels and investigate discrepancies, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Capex reporting improvements and maintenance of the fixed asset register with the support of one of the Assistant Accountants;
  • Identify and support the implementation of process improvements to develop the management accounting function;
  • Assist with preparation of papers and schedules to support external reporting and financial statement disclosures;
  • Providing information to external auditors where necessary;
  • Supporting three assistant accountants within the management accounts team;

Skills/experience:

  • Minimum qualified accountant CIMA/ACA/ACCA with PQE in a similar role;
  • Strong core accounting skillset;
  • Great organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and work under pressure;
  • Advanced excel skills;
  • Desirable but not essential - Concur, Sage and retail experience.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to build relationships across the business at all levels
